The Welsh Measles Epidemic Takes Its First Victim

A 25-year-old man from Swansea has been found dead. He was suffering from measles. The man has been named as Gareth Williams. He was discovered in his flat on Thursday.

There are now around 808 known cases of measles in Wales. While many people are now getting the MMR vaccine, many people are left unprotected.

it is the weak who are at the greatest risk. Some people are unable to take a measles vaccine due to other health conditions, these are often the ones who suffer the most during an epidemic.

Health professionals are expecting more deaths to occur in Wales. The epidemic is still spreading with more children and adults become affected.

MMR jabs are being given in schools and health centres all over southern Wales now. Hospitals are running drop in sessions a the weekend too.

Go to Morriston and Singleton Hospitals in Swansea, the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot Hospital on Saturday if you or your children have not been vaccinated yet.

Measles kills. Get vaccinated.
