Slightly off topic, but we just heard about these new healthy frozen desserts that are made from natural ingredients that can help to improve dietary health rather than make it worse. So certainly worth investigating further if you are in the UK.
Last night Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne bought in to Kirsty Henshaw’s healthy “ice cream” company. It is not actually ice cream but a frozen dessert which is much healthier than ice cream and only contains 100 calories per portion.
Kirsty Henshaw has developed a frozen dessert which is a dairy-free healthy alternative to ice cream. She developed it for her child that has many food allergies.
Worthenshaws currently has 2 brands and 5 products available including Coconice Strawberry Frozen Desert and should see its products being distributed to the major supermarkets soon. They are low in fat (less than 3%) and has no sugar. The only sugars are those in the fruit extracts, so this is also a great low carb ice cream.

where can we purchase the worthenshaw products
Hi,
I have just watched Dragons Den and I am very excited to hear that this product has been made and looking forward to being able to purchase. My son who is 1 currently has a milk alergy and I find it difficult to offer him treats such as Ice cream. The fact it’s healthy is an extra added bonus. Well done Kirsty! I will certainly be one of your customers. Can I get any now?
It is available in some health food shops around the country, although all the recent interest has increased demand dramatically and supplies may be short. The best thing to do is to pick up the phone and call some local health food stores and see if they have it. The Worthenshaws.co.uk website is undergoing some updates at the moment. They did have a list of companies that they distributed to but that is no longer online.
Very soon you will be able to order it direct from Tesco.com.
Kirtsy Henshaw has announced that Worthenshaws Desserts will be in the top 6 supermarkets nationally in September 2010. So there should be no problem finding then after the summer holidays.
In the meantime they are in some health food shops as well as the Bannatynes Health Clubs. There are 60 clubs across the UK,you can find them here.
You can see Kirsty on GMTV tomorrow the morning with Peter Jones. Between 8.30-9am. Hopefully they will have some news on exactly when we will see more in the shops.
Hi Kirsty
I have just watched Dragons Den and just wanted to say, that (for the first time in many years) I am very very proud to be British. You are an inspiration to the “normal” working class people and you should be very proud of what you have achieved sofar in your life. You will make your son extremely proud (and very wealthy) with the help of your new investor and good luck to you. I will definately be buying your product. It has been many years since i have been moved to tears by ambition such as yours and I want to thank you and wish you every success in the future.
good luck. xxx
dear Kirsty, I have read in the weekly paper, that you have produceda frozen dessert which is nut free. When I went to buy some for my granddaughter, I read on the side of the carton that it was produced in a factory where nuts are present. Please explain. It is a brilliant idea but where has it gone wrong, as I cannot possibly buy it. The paper mentioned was the one from Waitrose, and Waitrose in Barnet was where I went to buy It.
Yours Helen Taylor
Hi Helen,
This is not actually Kirsty’s website, and we cannot speak for her. There are contact details on her site: http://www.worthenshaws-freedom.co.uk/
Hello there, just stopped by doing some research for my Oakley site. Lots of information out there. Looking for something else, but great site. Have a good day.
This product is not as allergy friendly as it appears, while the ingredients are free from the listed items they are all present in the factory. The machinery is previously used for products with the risky ingredients as well
No good for my nut allergic son, just too much of a risk to him.
