In a study by the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands scientists concluded that the variety in vegetable consumption was inversely associated with lung cancer risk among current smokers. The more different types of vegetables and fruits a smoker ate the greater the reduction in incidence of cell damage which is a indicator of increased lung cancer risk.
